Car Description

1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 – Matching numbers, Driver-Quality, Frame & Wire Harness Restoration, Rust-Free, Original Cream White, Complete Servicing w/key part renewals

This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 is a driver-quality example finished in its original cream white and powered by a 2.9L inline-six paired with a 4-speed manual transmission with fully operational overdrive. The car has benefited from a partial restoration detailed in the attached service records and is described as rust-free, with no known mechanical issues. It starts easily, runs strong and cool, and is ready to be enjoyed.

The exterior is presented in its original color and shows well overall, with good paint quality and bright chrome. There are a few nicks and a shallow 4” diameter dent on the rear passenger side quarter panel. All panel fits are solid, and the car retains classic details including chrome bumpers and wire wheels. The soft top is in good condition  with perfectly clear glass, operating zipper, and one small ¾” repair just above the driver’s head. The car presents as an honest, well-kept driver.

The interior features black vinyl, a wood-veneer dash (with a clean varnished glove box replacement spare), Smiths gauges, and period-correct trim. Minor wear consistent with use may be present, but overall the cabin is clean. The rubber gaskets are ok and there is a door gasket replacement rubber set. All gauges and switches are reported to operate as intended except the speedometer that shows 70,000 miles stopped as shown in 5/17/2012 service record attached.

The engine bay is clean and shows signs of proper maintenance. The car starts from cold, idles smoothly, and pulls well through the gears. The 4-speed manual shifts properly, and the overdrive engages as expected. Braking and steering are solid and well maintained per service records attached.

The underside is a key highlight, showing a clean, rust-free structure (included are detailed technical photos). The frame restoration results in no signs of structural corrosion.

Included in the sale are all records, tools, spare tire, tonneau cover with driver side zipper and frame pole, and a new black soft top boot cover.

This BJ8 represents a great opportunity to acquire a well-sorted, rust-free driver that can be enjoyed immediately while continuing to improve or preserve.
